Barbie Movies Tag

Whoa...I can't believe someone made this tag! As a Barbie fan, it makes me happy.  I tagged some people over on Instagram, but anyone is free to do this tag.  This tag is a bit different because it doesn't ask any actual questions. Here you recommend books similar to the Barbie movie that is prompted.  1. The Princess and The Pauper --The best answer I have for this one is Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine, since it also takes place in a historical European-inspired setting and also based on a fairy tale. 2. The Diamond Castle-- this time I am gonna go with a manga series (even though I only watched the anime)...and that is Full Moon wo Sagashite by Arina Tanemura.  3. Swan Lake-- Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Johanneau is a perfect answer for this because the characters in the story literally end up performing the original Swan Lake ballet! 4. The Magic of Pegasus-- The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. Ha ha, I recommended a unicorn book when a...

Nonfiction November Day 12: Music

Image
I interpreted this prompt to mean a nonfiction book about music. So here's a book on my TBR that is about music: (Pic was found on Google Images) This is a memoir published in 2020 with a focus on Dolly Parton's music career. I might not read it this year, but I hope to get around to it sometime! What's your favorite Dolly Parton song? Mine is Here You Come Again. You can listen to it here:

Siuil A Ruin: The Girl From the Other Side, Deluxe Edition, Volume 1

Image
There are actually 3 volumes in this one book of this popular fantasy manga series. Siuil a Ruin by Nagabe is about Shiva, a girl who lives in a place that is divided by the "Inside", where the God of Light rules, and the "Outside", where the God of Darkness rules. Apparently, the God of Darkness has released this curse that can spread and permanently affect humans. Shiva supposedly has it, but she hasn't gotten a "cursed form" yet. She lives with an Outsider whom she calls "Teacher", and their days are usually very laid back and sweet. Teacher is trying to protect Shiva from anyone who tries to hurt her. From both Outsiders who want to return her soul to "Mother" and Insider soldiers who want to sacrifice her.  I've known about this manga series for a long time, and I finally got around to it! I loved the perfect mix of it being a cozy fantasy and a dark fantasy. I am very into all of the mysteries of who the gods really are,...

Beagle (character in question is Prince Lir) 5. ballad of a homeschooled girl (a book that you like that other people don't) Well, the book is more divided than widely disliked, but I'll have to go with Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. 6. logical (a book with a red flag love interest) Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (the character in question is Maxim de Winter) 7. get him back! (A book you have mixed feelings for) Nick...
