Anime/Manga Poem #12

Image
Today's poem was inspired by the classic shojo anime "The Rose of Versailles". The original manga is by Riyoko Ikeda. In about a week a reboot movie for the series is coming out! The first above is of the ending song of the original anime (from 1979) and the second video is of the trailer of the upcoming reboot movie.  Here's my poem inspired by the series: "There is a revolution On the horizon I feel it in my soul The citizens of France Can’t stand What this monarchy is doing This young king and queen Just engage In frivolous trivial petty matters Spending spending spending Tax money On dresses On jewelry On royal balls Meanwhile The average citizen Doesn’t have enough money For the doctor Or food Or any other basic necessity Oh dear I wonder how all this will be viewed In the future When this part of French history Is recorded And then studied."

Today's poem is inspired by the underrated 90s shojo anime, Oniisama e. Did you know the creator is the same as the Rose of Versailles? It's Riyoko Ikeda. I also like the Rose of Versailles! I will write a poem for that anime too sometime.  Poem: Hey best friend I never thought that Coming to this prestigious school Would entail Joining a sorority I never thought that This school Was run by a mean girl Actually I take it back What that queen bee did to our student mentor Was the definition of evil No wonder our other student mentor Was trying to save Mentor 1 All while she had To battle demons of her own Even our new best friend  Was swimming in A void of darkness One day I wish All of us girls Will be equal

I will just enter showbiz And become popular More popular than him! Ha ha ha! But the boss Put me in The embarrassing Love Me group With this embarrassing pink jumper At least me and the other girl match I hope we can become good friends I never had any female friends before Okay, okay, okay Being an actress Is harder than I thought But at least you were there To cheer me on Now I feel like I am Doing something for myself Finally, finally, finally I think this is what My soul wanted all along Let’s both shine like stars!

Here's the thing: today's poem is inspired by One Piece by Eiichiro Oda. And today is One Piece's 25th anniversary!!! Yay!!!  However, One Piece has sooo much music surrounding it, since it is a 25 year franchise. So instead of one of the openings or other random songs, I decided to share a video of the live-action actors having fun. Ironically, I haven't seen the live action version yet. I do follow the official page and most of the actors on Instagram, though. This will be one of the last poems I will post in a while. I will resume with more anime/manga poems in December.  Poem: Come with me to the colorful world Of colorful people Of colorful fruit And all things magic Doesn’t matter who you are You’re never too old To follow your dreams So start sailing! Pirate or marine Or…something else Go find the one thing You’re looking for You’ll run into some jerks—oh yes Jerks are everywhere, they say But with the found family that you found Y...

Today's poem is inspired by one of the cutest and most relatable romance anime of all time: Kimi ni Todoke by Karuho Shina! Above is the first opening. Poem: To think that Meeting you Would spark Something new To think that Meeting you Would mean meeting New friends To think that Meeting you Would mean The respect of classmates To think that Meeting you Would mean Getting a cute dog To think that Meeting you Would spark Some girl drama To think that Meeting you Would lead to The best birthday ever To think that Meeting you Would mean A misunderstanding To think that Meeting you Would lead to An awkward Valentine’s Day But to think that Meeting you Would lead to us Becoming an official couple

Today's poem is inspired by the romantic comedy Lovely Complex by Aya Nakahara! Both openings of the anime are above! The beginning of the poem is actually pulled from the second opening (second video).  Poem: Say! Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey… Whatever That sounds like something Umibozou would write Right? Let’s go to his next concert! Ugh. Our friends are shipping us again. This isn’t an anime This is real life! Whatever Hopefully no one will come between us Save the drama… Hey! Are you listening?! Stop dozin’ off! Ugh. Now our friends are laughing at us They really want us To be a real-life comedy duo Quit it, all of you Let’s just dress in the latest trends And get tickets to that fire Umibozou concert.

Anime/Manga Poem #3

Today's poem was inspired by the classic magical girl/mecha series by CLAMP, Magic Knight Rayearth!  The video above is the full song of the first opening. Poem: We could feel it in our hearts We could feel it in our soul We could feel it in our minds We were the chosen ones Chosen to save this world This world bent on willpower But we didn’t know What would be ahead of us A world full of turmoil Of heartbreak Things aren’t always what they seem We might be controlling giant robots Called rune gods But we are not angels As Lantis said “If Cephiro were truly beautiful The flowers would bloom All on their own.”

Anime/Manga Inspired Poem #2

Today's poem is inspired by Ai Yazawa's most underrated work, Gokinjo Monogatari! Above is the opening.  I watched the anime many, many years ago on YouTube (before they got taken down) and really loved it! Now that the manga has been translated in English and released by Viz Media, the series will gain so many new fans. Someday I might get the whole manga too and reread the whole story. And read the parts that weren't in the anime. Here's the poem: Forget about those guys you think are cute What’s cute are these cute clothes I am making! Don’t forget the insignia Of the angel holding a strawberry On each one What? It’s cute clothes for teenage girls But you’re making children’s clothes? And you’re making clothes for stuffed animals? What’s my friend since childhood and next-door neighbor up to? I dunno, I think he’s makin’ walkie talkies His himbo friend just sketches people His punk friend just makes video games Ugh, is that popular pretty gi...
