The Prince Who Fell from the Sky Review

Image
This book was a used copy that used to be a library book. Fun fact: the author of this book actually visited my middle school way back when I was a student in middle school (in the early 2010s)! I never forgot him, the books he talked about, and the inspiration behind his books. This book that I just read was one of them. Maybe I am a little late to the party, but it's better late than never! The Prince who Fell from the Sky by John Claude Bemis is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth where all the humans (referred to as "Skinless Ones" and "Old Devils" throughout the book) have left and left their relics behind. Nature has taken over completely. Our main character is an old bear named Casseomae, who is sort of an outcast in the Forest she lives in. One day a starship falls from the sky, and a human boy emerges from it. Casseomae decides to protect the boy as if he was her cub. But then the Ogeema (the wolf leader of the forest) finds out about Casseomae and the b...

UNPOPULAR OPINIONS 2.0 TAG

I first saw this tag over at the Youtube channel of Angela from Literature Science Alliance. Check out her video here ! So we all know the OG Unpopular Opinions book tag, but there is also a 2.0 version with even more questions! Here are my answers.  As always, feel free to do this tag if you see it! 1. A genre "great" that you didn't get the hype for. I'm gonna have to say Educated by Tara Westover . For those who don't know, it is a memoir about the author who grew up in an unconventional (and unfortunately toxic) family, and then when she goes to university she learns way more about the world and starts healing from all the emotional scars she got growing up. It sounded like a memoir up my alley, but the thing that made me not like it was I didn't like the way it was written (as in, I didn't like the author's writing style). I actually DNF'd it after chapter 1! The author had a tendency to drone on about details that didn't add much to the...

BEST BOOKS OF 2022!

Now I'm being positive! These are all 5 stars books I read this year.  I recommend all of these! For the first half I will just write what I thought of them and put a link to their Goodreads page so you can read their plot summary, but everything after starting with Where the Mountain meets the Moon will just be a list with no summary, as I already have blog posts for those you can check out for my full thoughts. I will be linking their respective posts. (Except the Babymouse books, the Shadow Children books, and volumes 2 and 3 of Heartstopper will have Goodreads pages and write their summary here since I read those before Meets the Moon, or they are sequels and I can't talk about spoilers).  1. Frindle by Andrew Clements. Goodreads page here.  This was such a short book, but so interesting! I loved how creative and funny Nick and his friends were to challenge their English teacher Mrs. Granger regarding dictionaries and words. I've started calling ball point pens frin...

THE ANTI-TBR TAG

Time for unpopular opinions! This tag was originally created by Nicole and Her Books over on YouTube.  As always, feel free to do this tag if you see it! 1. A popular book you have no interest in reading. Honestly I have so many answers for this one. To give you a single answer, I'm going to have to go with Sadie by Courtney Summers . I remember so many people hyping this book up when it came out a few years ago, and I'm just not interested because I am simply not a fan of murder mystery stories. I was also told the book deals with some other really heavy stuff I wouldn't be able to stomach. So yeah, no Sadie for me. 🤷 2. A classic book or author you have no interest in reading. Again, too many answers, despite being a classics lover, but this time I'll have to go with War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy . I heard it's a really long book that takes a ton of effort to read, and the story itself is kind of boring. I do want to still read Anna Karenina though! 3. An author ...
