ANYTHING BUT BOOKS TAG

 I believe this tag has been around since 2017. I couldn't find who the original poster was, but I did first see this tag over on Merphy Napier's Youtube Channel here. Check out her other videos too! 

1. Name a cartoon that you love.

I love SO MANY CARTOONS! And anime. If I am not reading a book, I am probably watching cartoons and anime. Well, I'll name a favorite cartoon then anime. Cartoon: Tangled the Series. Anime: Fruits Basket. 

2. What is your favorite song right now? 

Zero Gravity by Kerli. You can listen to it here . Anything by Kerli is fair game for me!

3. What can you do for hours that isn't reading?

Drawing, painting, listening to music, and sewing. 

4. What is something you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

This isn't that surprising if you've been following me for a while but I love to collect dolls! Barbie, Monster High, Rainbow High... any dolls! And if I am not watching any Booktubers, I'm probably watching doll collectors. Some of my favorite doll collectors are Melissa from My World, Joey from Beauty Inside a Box, Dom from Mini Toy Adventures, and DarlingDollz. 5. What is your favorite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?

Micronations. More on them here . 

6. What is something unusual you know how to do.

Can't think of anything!

7. Name something you made in the last year and show us if you can. 

I've done a lot of sketches for my own original characters and fanart. But I don't want to show them now. Maybe in a future artwork post!

8. Most recent personal project. 

I've been trying to get more organized, especially when it comes to my room!

9. Tell us something you think about often?

Planning a dream trip to Japan.

10. Give us something that is your favorite.

Coconut milk tea with strawberry jelly.

Hey look! Another all time favorite! And that bookmark that matches the book was signed by the author herself.  The Last Cherry Blossom by Kathleen Burkinshaw is a historical fiction book about Yuriko Ishikawa, a 12-year old girl living in Hiroshima, Japan during WW2. The story follows her daily life and other surprises before the city gets bombed, and the aftermath of said bombing. A lot of the "daily life" stuff in this book mostly centers around Yuriko and her family. She grew up living with her single father, and then one day her single aunt Kimiko and cousin Genji start living with them, shaking up the house dynamic, which Yuriko doesn't like. She also doesn't get along with with aunt Kimiko and Genji. Yuriko's father also starts dating another woman named Sumiyo. Aunt Kimiko also starts dating a guy named Akira. I Started Reading the Call the Name of the Night manga series!

  I hope this becomes a new favorite series! Call the Name of the Night by Tama Mitsuboshi is about Mira--a girl with a rare condition where everytime she gets anxious, everything around her gets engulfed in darkness and it scares people. She is currently living with a doctor and magician named Rei, who is researching her rare condition and will maybe find a cure for it. Mira's daily life with Rei is rather chill: she usually reads books, helps Rei with cooking, plays with little shadow creatures,  and hangs out in the garden.  One day, an old, rather sketchy acquaintance of Rei's names Cartos comes to visit, and Mira ends up learning something about herself she never knew.  So far, I am loving this!  I gave this first volume 5 stars .  I love the heartwarming magical cottagecore vibes and the gorgeous pictures. it's like a more chill version of Witch Hat Atelier, in my opinion.  I also love the dynamic between Mira and Rei! Bianca Torre is Afraid of Everything Review

 TW: Mentioning of murder Whoa! Where do I begin? Bianca Torre is Afraid of Everything by Justine Pucella Winans is about Bianca, a nonbinary lesbian teenager who has a long list of fears. They spend a lot of their free time either secretly observing and making up stories about their neighbors, watching anime with their best friend Anderson, and birdwatching. But one day, Bianca witnesses something terrible happen to one of their neighbors: a guy they call Mr. Conspiracy. He gets murdered by a mysterious person wearing a bird mask. Bianca, Anderson, and later a girl Bianca has a crush on named Elaine all work together to solve the murder mystery.  This book got me hooked from page 1! And it might seem a bit odd, because I don't usually vibe with murder mysteries, but this author and this story made it work for me! The mystery part of it was cool.
