Somehow I forgot to mention these books...

Image
Remember my post from January where I showcased series I wanted to finish or catch up with? Well, somehow I forgot to mention these four! Well, one of them (the Winterhouse series), is one I started this year. I read the first book in January.  The Awakening of Roku is the second book of the Avatar Roku duology, which itself is part of the larger Chronicles of the Avatar series (6th book overall, I think?) Pennies is a prequel book to the Blight Harbor series by Lora Senf (I read the first three books last year, The Clackity, The Lighthouse Keeper, and the Loneliest Place ) Brigands and Breadknives is the sequel to Legends and Lattes ,which I read back in 2023. I read the prequel Bookshops and Bonedust back in 2024. The Secrets of Winterhouse is the sequel to Winterhouse , which I read this past January.

Bookshops and Bonedust Review

It's been a while since I visited the wonderful world Travis Baldree created with Legends and Lattes ! (You can read the review for that book here .) It's also been a while since I took a picture of a book with one of my dolls. That's Venus McFlytrap from G3 Monster High. Bookshops and Bonedust is the prequel to Legends and Lattes . This prequel follows Viv the Orc recovering from an injury from her last battle. She spends time in this seaside town called Murk, where she becomes friendly with a colorful cast of new friends, from a restaurant owner named Brand, to a gnome named Gallina, to a carpenter named Pitts, and even her surgeon named Highlark. She also becomes enemies with a guard named Iridia, but even she becomes more of a frenemy later on. However, Viv spends most of her time at a nearby bookshop and the bakery next door to it. She becomes super close with the rattkin that owns the bookshop, named Fern, and her pet griffet Potroast (they're pictured on the c...

LEGENDS AND LATTES SPOILER FREE REVIEW

This fantasy book is a future classic. I am telling you I gave this 5 stars . The story of Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree follows an orc named Viv (the green one) who decided to move on with her life of high intensity quests and settle down in a small town called Thune and open a coffee shop. We follow her fixing up her coffee shop from the bottom up with the help of several new friends, and also get an insight of how she figures out what kind of coffee and desserts her customers would like, as well as the kind of people that visit her shop. Viv thinks at first that her success of her coffee shop might be due to the Scalvert's Stone she acquired on her last adventure, which legend has it brings good luck. But as time goes on there is more to it that meets the eye. And this happens in many ways. There is a subplot where she has to impress the Madrigal, a shady figure in Thune. One of Viv's friends she used to go on adventures with also turns out to be not as nice as he ...
