Anime/Manga Poem #10

Image
Today's poem is inspired by the underrated 90s shojo anime, Oniisama e. Did you know the creator is the same as the Rose of Versailles? It's Riyoko Ikeda. I also like the Rose of Versailles! I will write a poem for that anime too sometime.  Poem: Hey best friend I never thought that Coming to this prestigious school Would entail Joining a sorority I never thought that This school Was run by a mean girl Actually I take it back What that queen bee did to our student mentor Was the definition of evil No wonder our other student mentor Was trying to save Mentor 1 All while she had To battle demons of her own Even our new best friend  Was swimming in A void of darkness One day I wish All of us girls Will be equal

Anime/Manga Poem #7

It's been a while since I did one of these! Today's poem is inspired by Revolutionary Girl Utena! The creator is Be-Papas. Above is the opening. Poem: "Let’s create A new world Where we girls Rule the world Aren’t you tired Of being tossed around From person to person? Or can the Rose Bride Have no thought or feelings Of her own Oh Goddess! Let me save you Or is it possible Only you can save yourself?"

Booksnob Book Tag

I first saw this tag over on the YouTube channel of @ttreadsya . Their video for this tag can be viewed here . Feel free to do this tag if you see this! I'd love to see your answers. 1. Adaptation Snob: Do you always read the book before you see the movie? Nope! There are some books I've read after I watched their movie adaptations, but that's usually because I didn't know that they were based off of books. 2. Format Snob: if you had to choose only one format for the rest of your life - print, electronic, or audio - which would it be? Maybe audio. It's a lot more convenient to use. 3. Ship Snob: would you date or marry a non-reader? Nope! Since reading is one of my special interests, one of the ways I bond with other humans is through talking about what they like to read. I mean, we could still talk about favorite movies and shows, since I like those too, but books have so much to offer, too. 4. Genre Snob: You have to ditch one genre and never read it again, wh...

MILK AND HONEY REVIEW

Image
This was another book I got as a gift. A poetry collection from the wonderful Rupi Kaur ! Milk and Honey is a collection of poems regarding facing trauma, love, healing, and feminism. They are all poems on Rupi's innermost thoughts based on her real-life experiences, and she wanted to share them with the world so people like me and you know you're never alone.  Most of the poems are so tiny but very emotional, moving, and imapactful. Occasionally Rupi herself uploads some of these poems and others she writes on her Instagram page .  The drawings, which resemble sketches more, are beautiful too.  I gave this book 5 stars. This book left such an impact on me. Rupi Kaur is one of my favorite poets! Even if you don't read much poetry, this collection is worth checking out. Who are some of you favorite poets?
