The Legend of Shadow High Review

Image
Do you like Monster High, Ever After High, or both?  Either way, Here's a crossover book between my two of my favorite doll franchises! Was this story good? Well... The Legend of Shadow High by Shannon Hale and Dean Hale starts off with Frankie Stein and Draculaura from Monster High who hear rumors about a high school monsters historically went to called Shadow High. They find a map and try out some spells to take them to this  Shadow High, but they end up in Ever After High instead! When their sudden appearance causes chaos and gets them in trouble, they are taken under the wings of Apple White and Raven Queen, and they become friends. Well, the new friends find out that Raven's mother, the Evil Queen, wants to also get to Shadow High and take over the World of Stories. They have to stop the...

The Story Girl Review

Image
(Pic was found on Google Images) Another underrated and great book by LM Montgomery ! The Story Girl is about two brothers, Beverly and Felix King, who go to visit their cousins (named Felicity, Cecily, and Dan King) in Prince Edward Island for the summer, and part of the fall. The book in general is slice of life with no overarching plot, and it follows the situations, ranging from serious to comical, of the King cousins and some other friends. It’s also not to confuse her with Sarah Ray. The Story Girl likes to tell stories that have happened to people they know in their community, or stories she makes up herself, or even fairy tales and mythology. Almost every chapter of the book has Th...

THINGS I LOVE IN BOOKS

I wasn't tagged in this, but I though this tag looked neat. I first saw it over at @hades.reads Instagram page.  As usual, I don't tag anyone. Feel free to do this tag if you see it! So here is everything I realized I love seeing in books: Sassy/funny characters friends to lovers rivals to lovers fake dating dual POV (can be first or third person) mysteries found family Queer characters (anyone underneath the LGBT umbrella!) Disabled characters (physical and nonphysical disabilities!) Ethnically diverse cast of characters self-discovery/self-acceptance stories strong friendships cool magic systems rich worldbuilding cozy settings magical creatures (especially fairies, dragons, and mermaids) likeable characters you want to root for unlikeable characters are unlikable on purpose references to anime/other cartoons witches challenging/questioning societal norms linear storytelling What are your favorite things in books? Do you like any of the ones I just mentioned?
