Miss Flora's big house has been reported to be haunted: things keep moving and food keeps getting stolen. Nancy and Helen attempt to find the ghost or the person who keeps messing around the house. At the same time, Nancy's father gets swept up in a case of his own where a man named Willie Wheaton wants to build a new railroad, but the papers that have Wheaton's signature on them aren't probably legitimate. What's distracting Nancy and her father the most is a suspicious man named Nathan Gomber, who seems to have something against Nancy and her father. Just like the last book, the main mystery and the sub-mystery seem to have nothing to do with each other, but at the end they come together. I won't tell you how! This was such a fun book to read!
