  Today's poem is inspired by Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya ! Above is the first opening from the reboot anime.  I am a relatively newer fan. I got into the series in 2019 with the reboot anime, and then I switched over to the manga. Anyway, this is one of my favorite series of all time! I even cosplayed as Tohru's friend Saki Hanajima (Hana-chan) one year. It's also the Year of the Snake, so it's Ayame Sohma's year! 🐍 Here's the poem: "Just come close Just let me hug you It’s not a big deal If you turn into an animal Just come close Just listen to me I know what you need Just come close Just so you know Everyone has A story We must support each other We must lift each other up We are all different We all deserve love."

  It's been a while since I talked about anime I liked! Here are 4 more.  Parts 1-3 can be viewed here: Part 1 , Part 2 , Part 3 1. One Piece This is pretty obvious if you know me in real life. 😜 I don't need to explain what it is about since it's one of the best selling manga series of all time. Pretty much everyone knows what it's about. 2. Skip Beat! A young woman named Kyoko follows her childhood friend Shu to the big city where he's become a star! Unfortunately, she finds out he was using her the whole time to boost his own career. Feeling hurt, she decides to get revenge on him by competing in show business as an actress. Along the way, Kyoko meets new friends, including one mysterious guy named Ren. She learns to start doing things for herself instead of trying to please others. The last time I made a post talking about anime was way over a year ago! I have sooo many favorite shows, and I want to talk more about them. Here are parts 1 and 2 if you missed them or want to see them again. 1. Several of the Pretty Cure series.  PreCure is a magical girl franchise has been going on since 2004, and every season is a different story. So far my favorite seasons that I have seen are: HeartCatch Precure (the first one I watched!), Delicious Party Precure, Star Twinkle Precure, and Soaring Sky PreCure. Every season follows the same formula: an alternate magical world gets in trouble with some bad guy and their minions. Some magical being (usually an animal-like fairy) comes to our world to seek out the PreCure, the teenage girls from our world who become magical to fight the monsters the bad guy tries to attack our world with. As more monsters appear, they become more powerful, our protagonists have power-ups, and then they defeat the big bad! The series overall ha...

Lovely Complex This is a cute and funny contemporary romance anime about a teenage girl named Risa Koizumi who has been good friends with a guy in her class named Atsushi Otani for a while. She starts to feel romantic feelings towards him, but he doesn't reciprocate at first. Risa's friends and even Otani's friends constantly help Risa out to get closer to Otani, but it doesn't always work out smoothly. As more things get in her path, eventually Risa and Otani do become a couple.  This was such a funny and cute show! I remember a lot of laugh out loud funny scenes from this anime. This show will tug at your heartstrings. Oh yeah, and one of Risa and Otani's friends is a transgender girl and she's portrayed in a really positive manner. So there's good trans rep in this anime.   Another blog post that is just a list, but worth checking out. Here are some of my favorite anime/manga series. Some of these might be your favorites too, or maybe these are good recommendations if you are thinking of getting into anime and manga. 1. Fruits Basket This is about the 2019-2021 reboot, which covers the whole story. The original manga was written by Natsuki Takaya in the late 90s and early 2000s. Fruits Basket is about a teenage girl named Tohru Honda who has recently been orphaned, and finds herself beginning to live with the Sohma clan. She finds out that for generations, several members of their clan have been cursed with the spirits of the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, and they many of them have had difficult lives growing up so they all carry a lot of trauma with them. When Tohru comes along, their lives start to turn around for the better, and even Tohru herself carries a lot of baggage that she slowly learns to how to handle thanks to her new family.  Th...
