Somehow I forgot to mention these books...

Image
Remember my post from January where I showcased series I wanted to finish or catch up with? Well, somehow I forgot to mention these four! Well, one of them (the Winterhouse series), is one I started this year. I read the first book in January.  The Awakening of Roku is the second book of the Avatar Roku duology, which itself is part of the larger Chronicles of the Avatar series (6th book overall, I think?) Pennies is a prequel book to the Blight Harbor series by Lora Senf (I read the first three books last year, The Clackity, The Lighthouse Keeper, and the Loneliest Place ) Brigands and Breadknives is the sequel to Legends and Lattes ,which I read back in 2023. I read the prequel Bookshops and Bonedust back in 2024. The Secrets of Winterhouse is the sequel to Winterhouse , which I read this past January.

Unpopular Opinions Book Tag, 2025 Edition

Today we will start with sharing my unpopular opinions for 2025.  Here are my answers from the last several years: 2022 , 2023 , and 2024 . As usual, feel free to do this tag, too! 1.  A popular book or series you didn't like.  I actually DNF'd this book back in June. It was She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen . I found the MC Scottie to be really unlikable, and I also found her relationship with the other girl Irene to be pretty toxic.  2.  A book/series a lot of people don't like, but you liked.  Maybe Funny Story by Emily Henry ? Henry's books in general are pretty divided. Funny Story is my favorite book from her so far! 3.  A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person didn’t want them to end up with/an OTP that you don’t like. I don't have an answer for this year!  4.  A popular genre you hardly reach for. Still horror. But so far I have read the first two books of the Blight Harbor series by Lora Senf and I've...

The Clackity Review

Image
I need to read more middle grade horror books after this!  The Clackity by Lora Senf is about 12 year old Evie, who lives with her aunt Desdemona is a reportedly haunted town called Blight Harbor. One day, her aunt goes missing after investigating a strange phenomenon in an old abandoned slaughterhouse. Evie tries to get her aunt back, but she does so by making a deal with a creepy creature called the Clackity. The Clackity wants Evie to bring back the ghost of a notorious criminal named John Jeffery Pope. So Evie goes on this quest through 7 mysterious, magical houses to find her aunt--and the malicious John Jeffery Pope.  Whoa, this book had me on the edge of my seat! I like that was scary but not too scary. It was more mysterious and even a little whimsical at times. I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I gave this first book 5 stars .
