Favorite Anime Part 3

The last time I made a post talking about anime was way over a year ago! I have sooo many favorite shows, and I want to talk more about them.

Here are parts 1 and 2 if you missed them or want to see them again.

1. Several of the Pretty Cure series.

PreCure is a magical girl franchise has been going on since 2004, and every season is a different story. So far my favorite seasons that I have seen are: HeartCatch Precure (the first one I watched!), Delicious Party Precure, Star Twinkle Precure, and Soaring Sky PreCure. Every season follows the same formula: an alternate magical world gets in trouble with some bad guy and their minions. Some magical being (usually an animal-like fairy) comes to our world to seek out the PreCure, the teenage girls from our world who become magical to fight the monsters the bad guy tries to attack our world with. As more monsters appear, they become more powerful, our protagonists have power-ups, and then they defeat the big bad! The series overall has become a comfort series for me. If you haven't seen any of them, I recommend starting with the one of the four I mentioned!

2. Gokinjo Monogatari.

Or Neighborhood Story, in English. This is made by the same woman who created Paradise Kiss and Nana, although she wrote Gokinjo waaaay before either of them. The story is about Mikako Kouda, a gyaru girl who love fashion and wants to become a fashion designer. She and all of her friends go to a special liberal arts high school, and each of them are passionate about something art-related. They form a group called Akindo, and they sell their creations at local flea markets and learn to become good entrepreneurs. Mikako has also been in love with one of her childhood friends and next-door neighbor, Tsutomu. Although she has trouble confessing her feelings, and it leads to a lot of misunderstandings between the two of them. But like all romance stories, everything eventually works out at the end! This shojo anime is sooo underrated and needs more love, in my opinion.

3. Creamy Mami

This is an iconic magical girl idol series! A ten year old girl named Yuu sees a spaceship in the sky, gets to go on board, and helps a little alien named Pino Pino find the Feather Star. He grants Yuu a magic wand, two magical little kittens named Posi and Nega, and she has the ability to transform into a teenager whenever she pleases. She can only have the wand for one year, however. One day while in her teenage form, Yuu gets asked to sing on TV, and she becomes popular very fast. She takes on the stage name "Creamy Mami" (the "creamy" part comes from her family's crepe shop) and becomes a big idol in Japan. This is such a sweet and cute series!

4. The Rose of Versailles

A classic historical fiction story. The Rose of Versailles follows Oscar, a girl who was raised as a boy as her father wanted a son after having so many daughters. She becomes the bodyguard of the new queen of France, Marie Antoinette. But what follows is a series of events that ultimately lead up to the French Revolution. The series has so much drama but is surprisingly educational at the same time! The artwork is gorgeous too. Oscar is also a gender-nonconforming protagonist.
