Everything Leads to You Review

I think Nina Lacour is becoming a new favorite author of mine! I don't know why it took me so long to read another book from her, because her writing is awesome. The first Nina Lacour book I read was We Are Okay back in 2022. You can read the review here .

Everything Leads to You by Nina Lacour is about Emi, an 18 year old young woman who got a summer internship in movie set designing thanks to her older brother Toby. One day she and her best friend Charlotte are invited to look through the estate of a really famous movie star that just died, named Clyde Jones. While looking though there to see what they can use for the set of an upcoming movie, they come across a record player with a hidden letter inside. In the letter, they learned that Clyde Jones actually left some money for his daughter Caroline to inherit. The girls find out that Caroline died a long time ago, but she had a daughter named Ava who is still alive and is around their age. After several roadblocks, they reach Ava, and tell her about her grandfather being the famous Clyde Jones and the money she inherited from him. Emi and Charlotte also learn from Ava that she hasn't had the best life since her mother Caroline died. The two girls decide to help Ava turn her life around, and one way they also do this is through encouraging her to audition for another movie that Emi just got called to work in, thanks to her ex-girlfriend Morgan. Over time, Emi starts to fall in love with Ava.

What I really love about this book is that Nina Lacour really knows how to tap into your emotions, and she almost always seems to know what you are thinking! She also drops some hard truths throughout the novel about life that are rather comforting at the same time. The main romance is sapphic, too, so that's a plus! I also got to learn about movie set designing along the way.

I gave this book 4 stars. That was just because of some subject matter sprinkled thoughout that might be triggering for some readers, such as underage drinking and Ava's tragic backstory. Still a great read! I want to read more of Nina Lacour's books.
