FINALLY FALL TAG!
Yay for another book tag! I saw this tag once again over at the YouTube channel of Angela from Literature Science Alliance (her video here). It looked like a lot of fun. Feel free to do this tag if you see it!
1. In fall, the air is crisp and clear: name a book with a vivid setting.
Anything by Kelly Barnhill! As of writing this, I have read from her The Girl who Drank the Moon and The Ogress and the Orphans. I am currently reading The Witch's Boy and is also has a very vivid setting.
2. Nature is beautiful, but also dying: name a book that is beautifully written, but also deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief.
Three that come to mind are: We Are Okay by Nina LaCour, Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa, and Chasing Redbird by Sharon Creech.
3. Fall is back to school season: share a non-fiction book that taught you something new.
Word by Word by Kory Stamper. It's a nonfiction book about how dictionaries are made, specifically the Merriam-Webster English Dictionary. The author herself used to work for Merriam-Webster, too!
4. In order to keep warm, it’s good to spend some time with the people we love: name a fictional family/household/friend-group that you’d like to be a part of.
The crew of the Wayfarer in The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers.
5. The colorful leaves are piling up on the ground. Show us a pile of fall-colored spines!
Um... I can't do that. I don't have a lot of fall-colored books. Sorry!
6. Fall is the perfect time for some storytelling by the fireside: share a book wherein somebody is telling a story.
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery! The story is about, well, the little prince and his travels across the galaxy before landing on Earth, but the story is narrated by an unnamed pilot who meets the prince somewhere in the Sahara desert.
7. The nights are getting darker: share a dark, creepy read.
Coraline by Neil Gaiman!
8. The days are getting colder: name a short, heartwarming read that could warm up somebody’s cold and rainy day.
All three of the Tea Dragon Society graphic novels by Kay O'Neill are fair game.
9. Fall returns every year: name an old favorite that you’d like to return to soon.
The Kitchen Princess manga series by Miyuki Kobayashi and Natsumi Ando.
