LEGENDS AND LATTES SPOILER FREE REVIEW

This fantasy book is a future classic. I am telling you I gave this 5 stars.

The story of Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree follows an orc named Viv (the green one) who decided to move on with her life of high intensity quests and settle down in a small town called Thune and open a coffee shop. We follow her fixing up her coffee shop from the bottom up with the help of several new friends, and also get an insight of how she figures out what kind of coffee and desserts her customers would like, as well as the kind of people that visit her shop. Viv thinks at first that her success of her coffee shop might be due to the Scalvert's Stone she acquired on her last adventure, which legend has it brings good luck. But as time goes on there is more to it that meets the eye. And this happens in many ways. There is a subplot where she has to impress the Madrigal, a shady figure in Thune. One of Viv's friends she used to go on adventures with also turns out to be not as nice as he seems. But the coffee shop ultimately is where Viv learns how important friendship is with the help of her new friends and customers.

This was such a neat book! It does get intense in some scenes but for the most part it is a very cozy fantasy book. If you want a cozy coffee shop setting in a high fantasy world with all kinds of fantasy creatures, then this book is for you!

There is also a small romantic subplot between Viv and Tandri, the other girl on the cover (the pink succubus) who is Viv's coworker, so it's also a sapphic romance.

Did you know the author actually wrote this book as part of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) back in 2021? I think he did a great job! I think I will participate in NaNoWriMo one day.

Do you know any other cozy fantasy setting books?
