Second Chance Books

 Aka books I want to give a second chance to read.

These are books I either DNF'd, read but didn't like, or that I know I read but can't remember anything about. 

Most of these I read or attempted to read before I started my blog.  

Hopefully I end up liking or even loving these the second time around!

8. Vladimir Tod: Eighth Grade Bites by Z Brewer (first of a series)

9. Love at First by Kate Clayborn

10. The Island of Dr. Moreau by HG Wells

11. Mistress Pat by LM Montgomery (sequel to Pat of Silver Bush, which I read last year)

12. To Be Taught if Fortunate by Becky Chambers

13. Summer of Salt by Karina Leno

14. Akata Witch by Nnendi Okorafor (first of a series)

  OMG! I think I found my true favorite Sharon Creech book of all time! Bloomability is now at the number two spot. The Wanderer is about thirteen year old Sophie, who goes on a sailing trip with her two cousins and three uncles across the Atlantic Ocean to meet her grandfather, Bompie, in England. They make a lot of pit stops along the way to get their boat fixed and to pick up more supplies. Sophie and her cousins also learn a lot along the way: about sailing, stories about each other, their uncles, and Bompie, and other random things like juggling. But the trip is not a smooth one! Sailing out onto the ocean blue isn't as whimsical as Sophie thought it would be, and they run into a lot of problems. If It Makes You Happy Review

  My first Claire Kann book!  If It Makes You Happy follows 18 year old Winnie, who has her whole summer planned before she starts college in the fall: work at Goldeen's, her grandmother's old fashioned diner, and hang out with her ungirlfriend named Kara.  But then Winnie somehow accidentally becomes part of an annual matchmaking tradition the small town she is staying in has with the next small town over. She gets crowned queen, and a guy she's kind of secretly liked for a long time named Dallas steps up to become her king.  Now all of her plans are thrown out of whack as she and Dallas go around attending town events as Misty Haven's unofficial king and queen. Even worse--Winnie thinks the more she hangs out with Dallas, her queerplatonic relationship with Kara will be ruined. Winnie wonders if there is a way to make everyone happy while also prioritizing her own happiness.  This book got me hooked on from page one! I love the way the author writes, and Win...
