I FINALLY READ ELATSOE!

This was on my TBR forever, and I am glad to report that this book did not disappoint.

Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger is set in a world like ours--but have been shaped by magic and legends of different groups of people. The story is about a Lipan Apache girl named Elatsoe (or Ellie as she is usually called), her ghost dog Kirby, and her best friend Jay. They get thrown into solving a murder mystery case of Ellie's cousin, Trevor. When Ellie and her parents visit her cousin in law Lenore (Trevor's widow) and baby second cousin Gregory to keep them company, they find out the town they live in is rather...odd. It seems to center heavily around an eccentric doctor named Abe Allerton, who might have had something to do with Trevor dying. The task is dangerous, but Ellie knows she isn't alone in solving the mystery. 

Yes, this book deals with a lot of very heavy themes, but everything is done so well! The story was very whimsical at the same time, and I find Ellie to be very relatable. She is also asexual, just like me!  I gave it 5 stars. I look forward to reading the prequel novel about Ellie's six-great grandmother who she's named after!

  OMG! I think I found my true favorite Sharon Creech book of all time! Bloomability is now at the number two spot. The Wanderer is about thirteen year old Sophie, who goes on a sailing trip with her two cousins and three uncles across the Atlantic Ocean to meet her grandfather, Bompie, in England. They make a lot of pit stops along the way to get their boat fixed and to pick up more supplies.   My first Claire Kann book!  If It Makes You Happy follows 18 year old Winnie, who has her whole summer planned before she starts college in the fall: work at Goldeen's, her grandmother's old fashioned diner, and hang out with her ungirlfriend named Kara.  But then Winnie somehow accidentally becomes part of an annual matchmaking tradition the small town she is staying in has with the next small town over. She gets crowned queen, and a guy she's kind of secretly liked for a long time named Dallas steps up to become her king.  Now all of her plans are thrown out of whack as she and Dallas go around attending town events as Misty Haven's unofficial king and queen. Even worse--Winnie thinks the more she hangs out with Dallas, her queerplatonic relationship with Kara will be ruined. Mandy by Julie Andrews Spoiler-Free Review

  I just finished reading Mandy by Julie Andrews. (Yes, that Julie Andrews. Did you know she was an author as well as an actress?) I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. This was such a sweet book! This gave off the same heartwarming, cottagecore vibes similar to Anne of Green Gables, which is one of my favorite books of all time.  Mandy is about an orphan girl named, well, Mandy, who is ten years old and has lived in an orphanage all of her life. Despite her relatively normal an non-chaotic life in the orphanage, she's had a lingering sadness in the back of her mind because she always felt that something was missing from her life.  One day while exploring the woods behind the orphanage, she comes across an old abandoned cottage. She decides to make it her own personal sanctuary. So she starts a project to tidy up the cottage and grow a garden there, but she has to keep it secret, as she has felt she finally found a place to call her own and doesn't want to share it with any...
