Wanted! + One Piece Heroines Volume 1

 


As a One Piece fan, I had to pick these up.

This is not going to be like my typical reviews since there isn't much to say about these two books. I also can't get too into them because I know not everyone here has read or watched One Piece.

Wanted! is just a compilation of random comic stories that creator Eichiro Oda wrote before he officially started One Piece. The last comic, Romance Dawn, is basically a rough draft for One Piece! i gave it 4 stars.

One Piece Heroines Volume 1 is a light novel of stand alone stories set in the world of One Piece following four of the female characters: Nami, Robin, Vivi, and Perona. They are pretty lighthearted, so they're great for reading if you want a break from the intensity of the main One Piece storyline.  Or if you're in the mood for something more chill. I gave it 5 stars.

  OMG! I think I found my true favorite Sharon Creech book of all time! Bloomability is now at the number two spot. The Wanderer is about thirteen year old Sophie, who goes on a sailing trip with her two cousins and three uncles across the Atlantic Ocean to meet her grandfather, Bompie, in England. They make a lot of pit stops along the way to get their boat fixed and to pick up more supplies. Sophie and her cousins also learn a lot along the way: about sailing, stories about each other, their uncles, and Bompie, and other random things like juggling. But the trip is not a smooth one! Mandy by Julie Andrews Spoiler-Free Review

  I just finished reading Mandy by Julie Andrews. (Yes, that Julie Andrews. Did you know she was an author as well as an actress?) I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. This was such a sweet book! This gave off the same heartwarming, cottagecore vibes similar to Anne of Green Gables, which is one of my favorite books of all time.  Mandy is about an orphan girl named, well, Mandy, who is ten years old and has lived in an orphanage all of her life. Despite her relatively normal an non-chaotic life in the orphanage, she's had a lingering sadness in the back of her mind because she always felt that something was missing from her life.  One day while exploring the woods behind the orphanage, she comes across an old abandoned cottage. She decides to make it her own personal sanctuary. So she starts a project to tidy up the cottage and grow a garden there, but she has to keep it secret, as she has felt she finally found a place to call her own and doesn't want to share it with any...

Favorite Authors Part 9: Kelly Barnhill

  An author who recently became a favorite of mine! Well, by recently I mean by last year. The first book I read from her was her most popular one, The Girl who Drank the Moon . It was sooo magical, sweet, and cool! Although I do remember some parts of it being a little confusing.  I then read The Ogress and the Orphans , and I loved it too. Then I read The Witch's Boy, and it became my favorite book from her! Well, so far.  The rest of her books are on my TBR. I hope I can get around to reading one of these soon.  Why do I like Kelly Barnhill's books so much? Because they are the definition of whimsical, enchanting, emotional, and heartfelt. They basically feel very Studio Ghibli-like. If you like Studio Ghibli like myself, you'll like her books! Or maybe you already do. I'd like to see at least one of her books get an adaptation, preferably from Studio Ghibli.
