Our Not-So Lonely Planet Travel Guide, Volume 1


 The little frog in the corner is not part of the book. It's just a candy wrapper of mine that I saved. 

The first volume of Our Not-So Lonely Planet Travel Guide by Mone Sorai is about two guys who are boyfriends who plan to travel to different countries around the world before getting married. One guy is named Asashi, who is very practical and serious. The other guy is named Mitsuki, and he is more laid back and cheerful. In this first volume, they visit Thailand, India, and Georgia (the country), in that order. They meet some interesting people along the way, as well as an old friend. Each person they meet shows them something cool about the country, from landmarks to food. Sometimes things go qrong, but at the end of each day Asashi and Mitsuki have fun! 

I am so glad I decided to finally pick this up! It's such a simple but sweet story so far. The queer representation is great, and you do get to learn some things about other countries along with the characters. The story got a little emotional at times too, as our two main leads consider their feelings for each other as they start to grow closer. 

It's a solid 5 star book for me! I hope the rest of the volumes are great, too.

  OMG! I think I found my true favorite Sharon Creech book of all time! Bloomability is now at the number two spot. The Wanderer is about thirteen year old Sophie, who goes on a sailing trip with her two cousins and three uncles across the Atlantic Ocean to meet her grandfather, Bompie, in England. They make a lot of pit stops along the way to get their boat fixed and to pick up more supplies. Sophie and her cousins also learn a lot along the way: about sailing, stories about each other, their uncles, and Bompie, and other random things like juggling. But the trip is not a smooth one! Favorite Authors Part 9: Kelly Barnhill

  An author who recently became a favorite of mine! Well, by recently I mean by last year. The first book I read from her was her most popular one, The Girl who Drank the Moon . It was sooo magical, sweet, and cool! Although I do remember some parts of it being a little confusing.  I then read The Ogress and the Orphans , and I loved it too. Then I read The Witch's Boy, and it became my favorite book from her! Well, so far.  The rest of her books are on my TBR. I hope I can get around to reading one of these soon.  Why do I like Kelly Barnhill's books so much? Because they are the definition of whimsical, enchanting, emotional, and heartfelt. They basically feel very Studio Ghibli-like. If you like Studio Ghibli like myself, you'll like her books! Or maybe you already do. I'd like to see at least one of her books get an adaptation, preferably from Studio Ghibli.

  My first Claire Kann book!  If It Makes You Happy follows 18 year old Winnie, who has her whole summer planned before she starts college in the fall: work at Goldeen's, her grandmother's old fashioned diner, and hang out with her ungirlfriend named Kara.  But then Winnie somehow accidentally becomes part of an annual matchmaking tradition the small town she is staying in has with the next small town over. She gets crowned queen, and a guy she's kind of secretly liked for a long time named Dallas steps up to become her king.  Now all of her plans are thrown out of whack as she and Dallas go around attending town events as Misty Haven's unofficial king and queen. Even worse--Winnie thinks the more she hangs out with Dallas, her queerplatonic relationship with Kara will be ruined.
