Top 10 Favorite One Piece characters

Image
I love One Piece but I almost never talk about it on here! Since I am mostly caught up with the story I thought I would share who my most favorite characters are.  I actually have a lot of ideas for One Piece content in the future! I just need to make the time to make and post them. I do not own One Piece. One Piece is written and illustrated by Eichiro Oda.

Fae and the Moon Review

Image
A cute graphic novel I picked up on a whim.  Fae and the Moon by Franco and Catherine and Sarah Satrun is set in a fantasy world. The main character, Fae, is a girl living all by herself after her magical witch mother mysteriously disappeared. She spends most of her days tending to her mother's moon garden and feeding the animals near her house. She sometimes talks to a talking rabbit named Percival.  One day Fae thinks she is one step closer to finding her mother because of her connection to the moon. Fae takes the moon from the sky (literally) because she thinks if her mom doesn't see the moon in the sky, she might come back. Unfortunately, the moon is stolen by a huge colony of mice living underneath her house. At the same time, a dragon appears and seems to attack Fae, but he was really trying to protect her from someone or something.  Fae eventually learns why the mice stole the moon, and where her mother went, and the mystery of the dragon that suddenly appe...

Underrated Books Part 23

Man, I keep forgetting this is an ongoing post series on my blog. Note to self: when you run out of ideas, just talk about underrated books.  The previous parts can be seen on the navigation page!

Books my teachers in elementary school read out loud to us!

I liked most of these. See any you recognize?

Finally Fall Book Tag!

Image
So I somehow forgot this tag existed until I saw people I follow in Instagram do it. As it turns out I did do this tag for the first time back in 2023. So if you interested in those year's answers you can check them out here .

Cheshire Crossing Review

Image
A crossover of Western classic isekais (stories where characters get transported to another world. The word is from Japanese).  Cheshire Crossing by Andy Weir (yes, of Project Hail Mary  fame and other sci fi books) and Sarah Anderson  is a story of Alice, Wendy, and Dorothy of Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and the Wizard of Oz fame all come together in a school/boarding house of sorts to be studied by an eccentric scientist named Dr. Rutherford. He believes they possess the inherit ability to just move between worlds willingly. Taking care of the girls' needs is a nanny named Ms. Poole (she's also another famous magical nanny you might of heard of...).  Alice in particular doesn't like this setup and kicks off the conflict by deciding to escape by stealing Dorothy's silver shoes. Wendy and Dorothy follow her to Oz (as it turns out they do have the innate ability to move without actual objects), and they all end find out the Wicked Witch of the West who is someho...

September Wrap Up!

Image
Just another chill reading month...   The single DNF was so disappointing because it came from an author where I normally love her books. But this one was so...lackluster? It had an interesting premise but the characters were just not interesting. It's hard to care about the plot when you can't care about the characters.

Alice in Wonderland Book Tag

I saw one of my followers do this tag on Instagram and I had to do it too! The tag was originally created by @readromanread (over on Instagram). 1. The Queen of Hearts: A book with great villains. Both books in the The Avatar Roku duology by Randy Ribay. 2. Alice: A book with a smart FMC Evie von Rath in the Blight Harbor series by Lora Senf!   3. Mad Hatter: a character that comes across the opposite of how they really are We got two of these kind of guys in the same book: Wundersmith (book 2 of the Morrigan Crow series by Jessica Townsend. If you know, you know.  4. White Rabbit: A book everyone has been recommending Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro  5. Cheshire Cat: a book that surprised you.  The Poet X by Elizabeth Avecedo. I don't usually like books written in verse, but this was so good! 6. March Hare: a character you'd share the tea with Nicola and Simon from Nicola Traveling Through the Demon Realm manga series.  7. Caterpillar: A book ...

Navigating with You Review

Image
Drop everything right now and go read this!  Navigating with You by Jeremy Whitley, Cassio Ribeiro, and Nikki Foxrobot is a graphic novel set in North Carolina! It follows two girls who become best friends and then girlfriends, Neesha and Gabby. Neesha just moved from New York after her parents divorced. She also has cerebral palsy and is an  ambulatory wheelchair user . Gabby just moved from Florida after her father got a new job. She also has PTSD. The two girls become friends through bonding over hunting down the volumes of, and rereading, their favorite childhood manga: Navigator Nozomi. It's a very slice of life-ish story of the girls having fun as regular anime-loving friends do, and dealing with their trauma by learning to get vulnerable and communicate more openly with each other.  If you couldn't already tell, this book had everything that I love: an ethnically diverse cast, sapphic romance, anime references, fandom culture, and mental health repre...

Books Perfect for Fall!

As the title says. I picked out these books based on their vibes.

Continuing my Skip Beat journey

Image
There's no actual review today. I just wanted to share that I am finally continuing the story of an anime I watched and liked years ago. I found out the story continues at volume 12. I still read the previous 2 volumes just as a refresher on what happened last time. Good thing the libraries in my area carry the omnibus editions.

On the Bright Side Review

Image
The second book I've read from Anna Sortino ! The first one was Give Me A Sign , which I read and reviewed last year. You can read that review here. On The Bright Side is a dual POV book. Ellie is a senior in high school, but her deaf boarding school just closed due to lack of funding. So she has to move back in with her parents who can't understand her and her disability and go to mainstream public school with an interpreter (well, two of them). Jackson is another senior who is a star athlete, but recently has been getting sick a lot and he can't perform as well as he once has. His alternative medicine-loving parents make it hard for him to go to the doctor and figure out what's going on with him (they eventually do, but reluctantly).  The school guidance counselor Ms. Lilly decides that Jackson will show Ellie around the school and help her get situated. Ellie and Jackson end up becoming good friends and even start dating, but Jackson is worried if his recently diagn...

Northranger Review

Image
Northranger by Rey Terciero and Bre Indigo is a YA graphic novel set in rural Texas. The main character Cade Muñoz is a closeted gay guy who loves horror movies because they are a lot less scary than real life. His family struggles a lot financially, and his stepfather Dale suggests that the two of them find an extra way to earn money working at a farm.  The farm is owned by a retired army general (whom everyone calls "The General") who Dale used to serve under when he was in the army. Cade is reluctant to work on the farm at first, but he ends up getting along and becoming friends with the owner's son and daughter, twins named Henry and Henrietta. Cade and Henry end up bonding over their love of horror movies, and go watch them at the local theatre whenever they have free time. Henry also turns out to be a closeted gay guy, but he comes out to Cade and Cade does too, and very quickly they start dating (but keep it a secret from everyone except for Henrietta).  But the...

Out of Abaton: The Wooden Prince Review

Image
A cool reimagining of Pinocchio! This is the second book I have read from John Claude Bemis ! The first one was The Prince Who Fell from the Sky , which I read and reviewed last year. You can read that review here .  The Wooden Prince is set in a world like ours, but where magic, magical creatures, and alchemy exists. The story is about a mysterious automa (basically a humanoid robot, but powered by alchemy) named Pinocchio. He was serving the doge (the leader) of Venetian Empire, but is one day locked in a trunk and sent away to a new master: a wanted alchemist named Geppetto. Pinocchio, unlike most automa, seems to be experiencing more human-like thoughts and emotions, and slowly over time is turning into a human boy. Geppetto wonders if his long-time friend, Prester John (and the king of a rival kingdom named Abaton) has something to do with it.  But as they are trying to figure out what's up with Pinocchio and find and rescue Prester John, they get separated, and Pinocchi...

Just finished book 3 of Little Witch Academia!

Image
5 stars! I wanna watch the anime now! This final volume has Akko finding out something about Jasminka and her love of food, Constanze and her tricks to get her inventions to work, a favorite book author making a visit, and broom race that almost goes wrong but ends with a cool twist.

Unpopular Opinions Book Tag, 2026 Edition

Image
I do this tag every year! My answers to the previous 4 years can be found on the Navigation page.

Guess what I just read!

Image
Yes, it gets 5 stars . I think this one is my new favorite, actually. Honestly, of what I read so far, it's hard to choose a favorite because they are all so well written!

August Wrap Up

Image
Y'know what time it is! I didn't read a lot this month but that's okay--quality over quantity y'all.   It's actually kind of hard to explain why I didn't like the original book version of Juliet Takes a Breath .
