This is actually my third book from Ann Liang. The first book I read from her was This Time It's Real, which I read last year but I didn't like it very much. You can read the full review for it here. The second book I picked up was If You Could See the Sun, and I tried reading earlier this month but DNF it. I do believe in giving authors another chance, so I read I Hope This Doesn't Find You, and I really liked it!
This book is about Sadie Wen, who is a top student at her school and her number one nemesis is the other top student, Julius Gong. They've been competing for as long as Sadie can remember. One way Sadie vents out her frustrations with Julius and other students that have done her wrong is through email drafts. She does this because she is a huge goody two shoes and tries to maintain a good image with everyone, even when she's livid. She basically types out emails of everything she wishes she could say to the person she's mad at, and never actually sends them. But one day, her email drafts are all sent out, and as you can imagine it stirs up a lot of drama. Sadie has to now work hard to gain everyone's respect back, and now Julius sees her in a completely different light. Sadie also begins to see a more softer side of Julius. Things won't be the same between them after this!
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this! I normally am not a fan of enemies to lovers, but this book wrote the trope in such a way that it worked for me! I liked how the story explored how and why the characters were the way they were. I especially found Sadie's struggles to be the most relatable.
I gave it 4.5 stars, but that was just because of some pacing issues. Other than that, I am glad I finally found an Ann Liang book that I enjoyed!
