The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity Review


 Another cute romance manga I am kinda late to the party on! 

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity by Saka Mikami follows Rintaro, a boy who goes to a rather lowly public high school. The school is right next to a prestigious all-girls private high school. At Rintaro's family bakery, a girl who frequents there to eat their delicious cake is a girl named Kaoruko. Rintaro starts talking to Kaoruko and they hit it off pretty well, and they find themselves falling in love with each other. However, she goes to the prestigious all girls high school, and Rintaro wonders if they can even keep seeing each other if their respective friend groups have tension with each other since they come from rival high schools. The two teenagers find a way to make it work!

I've only read the first volume so far but I am already obsessed. It's just like how I felt when I started A Sign of Affection (speaking of which, I need to read the second omnibus for that!). I've just really been craving cute, chill romance manga series lately.

So this first volume got 5 stars from me! There's an anime adaptation coming out next year, too. I'll be checking it out!

  A cozy little fantasy adventure with queer representation! The Baker and the Bard by Fern Haught follows two friends, Juniper and Hadley. They work at a bakery and sometimes perform at an inn. One day their boss at the bakery sends them on a mission to get some glowing oyster mushrooms in a big forest for a big order a rich customer places. The friends get notice that several crops nearby are failing. They find out the cause is because of giant caterpillars that belong to a fey (fairy) named Thistle. It turns out, the fey caterpillars have some problems of their own. Juniper and Hadley find a way to help Thistle and get the mushrooms they need for the bakery. I gave it 5 stars. It's such a simple, but magical story! I think this book is perfect if you're in the mood for some adventure but with not very high stakes. Kind of like Legends and Lattes! There is also queer rep in this book. Hadley and Thistle are nonbinary, and Juniper and Hadley become a Sapphic couple.

I Started Reading the Call the Name of the Night manga series!

  I hope this becomes a new favorite series! Call the Name of the Night by Tama Mitsuboshi is about Mira--a girl with a rare condition where everytime she gets anxious, everything around her gets engulfed in darkness and it scares people. She is currently living with a doctor and magician named Rei, who is researching her rare condition and will maybe find a cure for it. Mira's daily life with Rei is rather chill: she usually reads books, helps Rei with cooking, plays with little shadow creatures,  and hangs out in the garden.  One day, an old, rather sketchy acquaintance of Rei's names Cartos comes to visit, and Mira ends up learning something about herself she never knew.  So far, I am loving this!  I gave this first volume 5 stars .  I love the heartwarming magical cottagecore vibes and the gorgeous pictures. it's like a more chill version of Witch Hat Atelier, in my opinion.  I also love the dynamic between Mira and Rei! Favorite Childhood Online Games

Did you play any of these as a kid? I don't play on any of the ones that require an account anymore (plus Club Penguin no longer exists and my Webkinz account expired a long time ago), but the other ones I still play once in a while! 1. Webkinz-   I still have all 50 of my Webkinz (the stuffed animals in real life, I mean)!  Webkinz was everything to me all throughout elementary school.  2. Club Penguin- I played this one mostly in fourth and fifth grade (ages 9-10). It was a lot of fun! Although it was way more fun if you were a member (which I wasn't).  3. Poptropica- I always made my character look like me. Did you know the creator of this game is also the author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid ? 4. Funbrain- My favorites on here were the swinging game, the one where a guy runs on logs, Mighty Girl/Guy, and the Star Climber.
